Coming Up: Westchester Climate Summit

Pace University Law School’s Center for Environmental Legal Studies and Federated Conservationists of Westchester County (FCWC) are teaming up on Friday, September 12 to host a conference on the impacts of climate change in Westchester County and the surrounding New York metropolitan region.

The day’s events at the Judicial Institute, on the campus at 78 North Broadway in White Plains, will include remarks, presentations, and panel discussions from local and nationally known scientists, experts, and policy-makers. Distinguished keynote speakers Dr. Cynthia Rosenzweig (NASA Goddard Space Center) and Professor Michael Gerrard (Center for Climate Change Law at Columbia Law School) will discuss the formidable threats of climate change to the region and outline solutions and strategies available to municipalities to address these threats.

Climate change topics to be covered will include coastal resiliency; regional examples of solution/strategies; a Climate Showcase Community; microgrids; NYS Climate Change Plan; and ways to achieve more energy independence and stability.
