Don’t leave it at the curb. The Town of Mamaroneck and local Girl Scout Troop 1826 are teaming up this Saturday, April 16 to promote the town’s E-Waste recycling program.

Residents of the apartment building at 35 North Chatsworth Avenue in Larchmont (Carlton House) will be able to donate their e-waste at a recycling drive taking place right in their own building. The girl scouts will be in charge of collecting the materials and educating residents on the types of materials that can be recycled. The recycling drive is taking place from 9 am to 11:30 am in the basement of the apartment building.

What is E-Waste?

Almost anything with a power cord can be recycled. E-waste includes small appliances, computers, TVs, fax machines, VCRs, cell phones and chargers, microwaves and stereos. Non-rechargeable batteries are not considered e-waste and cannot be recycled. When recycling computers and cell phones people need to remember to delete any personal or contact information.

“The Town of Mamaroneck is committed to recycling and wants everyone to be aware that they can recycle their e-waste and not have these things end up in a landfill,” says Mamaroneck Town Supervisor, Nancy Seligson. “We are proud to be working with a local girl scout troop to help create greater awareness of this important program. The Girl Scouts are committed to creating opportunities to help improve the world around them and this is one way that we can work together to help increase recycling in our community. ”
