Coming Up: FUNdraiser for Center for Continuing Ed., Mamaroneck – April 25

Ron Nobles

Professional comedians take the stage at Molly Spillane’s in Mamaroneck at 7 PM Thursday, April 25 to benefit The Center for Continuing Education.

Ron Nobles, a Hommocks Middle School teacher by day and comedian by night, will host a line up that includes: headliner John Iavarone, a veteran comedian who has a unique take on current events, marriage and children. Joining him are: Caitlin Peluffo, who recently appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert; Eric Neumann, a regular headliner at Caroline’s and had a #1 comedy album on iTunes; Sasha Srbulj who performs in New York and Los Angeles and just completed a television special; and Ryan Brown who appears at Caroline’s, The Comic Strip and festivals around the country.

Following on the heels of last year’s sellout benefit, this new lineup of comedians promises great laughs and a fun night out to raise money for the The Center for Continuing Education.

According to The Center’s executive director Diane Cashman, “We call this a “FUNdraiser” with an emphasis on ‘fun.’  But, just as importantly, funds raised at Comedy Night allow us to continue to serve as a space for the community to come together to learn. Our goal is to reach as many lifelong learners as possible with high quality, affordable learning and cultural experiences.”

This year, The Center launched a scholarship program and extended 18 scholarships, mostly to school aged children and high school students. Cashman adds, “We hope to extend the scholarships to low-income seniors in the futures.”

The Center has served the community for 80 years. It is completely self-financed from class and event fees. It receives no funding from the Mamaroneck Union School District.  Money raised at Comedy Night helps defray the costs for classrooms, teachers and operating costs, helping to keep class fees affordable to the community. Offerings include classes on topics as varied as computer skills, flower arranging, foreign language, museum trips, STEM courses for young students and more.

Benefit tickets are $100 for general admission or $150 for premium seating. It includes a buffet dinner, cash bar and laughter! Visit or call 914-698-9126.  Julia B Fee/Sothebys is the platinum sponsor of the event.
