The Greenburgh Nature Center in Scarsdale is holding its annual Fall Festival on Sunday, October 12 from 11 AM to 3 PM. The Center’s 33 acre site will be filled with a wide range of activities for kids and families, including scarecrow building, pumpkin carving, pumpkin painting, cider making, meeting the animals, scavenger hunts, tractor rides, tree swing, fun hair-coloringand much more.
The Center features a wonderful treehouse Nature Discovery Playground designed for children ages 2- 12, or you can explore marked forest trails to see the leaves changing colors. Bring a picnic and enjoy the whole day.
It pays to register early. The festival fee if you pre-register by Oct. 11: Members $5, Non-members $10 (on-line registration only). Fee day of event: Members $8, Non-members $15. You can register online here.
The following weekend, on Sunday, October 19, Sheldrake Environmental Center in Larchmont will hold its Fall Festival from 1 PM to 4 PM. Educational activities include bird-watching, ponding near the reservoir dam, family music circle, eco-crafts, scavenger hunts, nature walks, and, of course, pumpkin carving.
Kids under 2 are free. You can purchase tickets online here in advance and save: $5 members, $8 non-members.
