Ever heard of drop spindle spinning? Hint: It’s not about bikes.

On Sunday, September 7 from 1 – 4 PM, you can learn what spinning is really all about. Meet and greet the fiber arts teaching team at an Open House celebrating the 6-month anniversary of Etui Fiber arts, 2106 Boston Post Road, Larchmont ( 914-341-1426). Enjoy some refreshments too.

The fall class schedule will be available featuring a wide range of workshops and projects from felted critters for kids, to fabric dying, to one-on-one weaving lessons.

New to the teaching staff are Anna Upston and Karen Wyks-Lindsay, spinner and weaver, respectively. Karen first learned to weave over 36 years ago as part of her studies in Textile Design. With a BFA from U Mass Dartmouth , she also studied design and weaving at Moore College of Art and Haystack School of Crafts.

Anna Upston, owner of Maupston Design Studio in Riverdale, NY, has created a line of limited edition luxury yarns that turn cowls and hats into works of art. Even if you don’t knit, her hand spun yarns can be used as fashion accessories, for gift wraps, and more.

Also on hand will be Anne Auld and Stephanie Lieberman Paley who provide expert instruction on skillful knitting and crocheting.

On display will be some lovely garments and accessories knit up with Imperial Yarns’ Columbia, Tracie Too and Native Twist. You can earn 15% off all Imperial Yarns’ products during this time through September 16.
