This year on Earth Day, Tuesday April 22nd, people from 190 countries around the world will take action to protect the environment by planting trees, cleaning up local sites, calling on elected officials to pass environmental legislation, and more. The very first Earth Day in 1970 actually marked the birth of the modern environmental movement. This year’s Earth Day theme is Green Cities. (Watch video.)
At Sheldrake Environmental Center in Larchmont on Saturday April 26 from 9 am-10 am, the Center will offer Earth Machine compost bins for sale and families can participate in a workshop on backyard composting. You can reserve a bin here.
After that, from 10 am- 12 noon, join a community effort to clean up the Larchmont Reservoir Conservancy as well as enjoying family nature activities. Get the details.
