Monday evening the Village of Larchmont Board of Trustees will, for the first time in a formal setting, hear how community residents feel about the proposed Centro Larchmont condominium building on one of the village’s busiest thoroughfares.
Rye-based developer Elk Homes wants to build a 26-unit luxury condominium residence at 108-114 Chatsworth and 65 Wendt Avenues in the heart of the Village of Larchmont. Elk says the five story building would include 23 market rate and 3 affordable condominium residences ranging in size from 900 square feet to 3,500 square feet. It is also slated to include 5,000 square feet of retail space along Chatsworth Avenue.
Resident concerns range from traffic and safety, to environmental effects, impact on school system and that the sheer size and architecture of the building and garage are not in keeping with the village’s charm.
Centro Larchmont would occupy the site of vacant retail spaces, formerly a food market, flower shop, vision care and a children’s music center which are slated for demolition.
The public hearing takes place at Village Hall beginning at 7:30pm.
The initial proposal as well as all architectural, engineering and landscape plans can be found on the Village of Larchmont website and following links.
