Weather Company, Weather Channel, Weather Underground and many other corporate sponsors are backing the upcoming Climate Week in and around New York City, organized by the nonprofit Climate Group, starting September 17.
Now in its fifth year, many events are accessible online to Westchester residents; for example, you can learn how solar can lower energy bills in multi-family buildings during a free online presentation on September 19, covering solar thermal technology, uses, incentives, and case studies. Afterwards you can ask any questions you might have. All you’ll need is a phone and/or internet access to participate. To gain access, please RSVP by 5pm on September 17 to receive the phone number and online log-in details, or register online here.
Also online starting Sept. 17, you can send a free photo postcard as a “climate witness,” and become part of an interactive social media campaign to collect images from people around the world who are experiencing the effects of climate change. Organized by the nonprofit Environmental Justice Foundation, the Postcards from the Frontlines campaign will enable anyone with a smartphone or computer to send their photograph and message as a digital postcard, which will then be printed and sent to Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary-General of the UN.
