Coming Up: Larchmont Arts Festival and Truck Day

The Larchmont Arts Festival is turning 10 Saturday  with a special birthday event in Larchmont’s Constitution Park from 1pm – 5pm.  (Rain date: Sunday September 30.)

This beloved annual Larchmont tradition has been celebrating creativity for ten inspiring years and this year promises to be the best and biggest festival yet—with more fine arts, crafts, live music and refreshments, plus exciting art-making events and the Kenise Barnes Fine Art Award.

This year’s featured artist, Hilda Green Demsky, whose contemplative oceanscape “It Lifts Up the Spirit,” graces the festival’s special anniversary poster, recently talked with Arts Festival Director, Palmer Davis, about her fascinating, accomplished career in the arts.  Hilda’s powerful, nature-inspired works have been exhibited and commissioned all over the world.  When not traveling the globe for her frequent artist-in-residency posts, she can be found painting in her studio in Larchmont.

TRUCK DAY at the Larchmont Public Library

Children who love playing with trucks will get a kick out of exploring the real thing. Adults and children can climb on and go inside all of their favorite trucks, such as: bucket trucks, front loaders, fire engines, police cars and much more.  They can meet the local police and fire fighters who will be on hand to show them around and answer questions. This is a great opportunity to give your child hands-on experience learning about trucks that fascinate them. All trucks are made available by the Village of Larchmont and the Town of Mamaroneck.

Truck Day will be held on Saturday, September 29 from 10 am to noon at the parking lot behind St. Augustine, which is next door to the Larchmont Public Library. The event is free and open to the public. The event is in conjunction with the Larchmont Art Show. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

After you enjoy the event, come to the library to sign up the family for library cards. Then visit the children’s library to check out books about trucks.
