PaperWorks will feature a diverse range of artists from New York that work primarily with paper as a medium; 2D and 3D works will be included, as well as an installation made specifically for this exhibition.

Featuring artists, Sky Burkson, Tifa Chii, Irving Harper, Susan Kaufman, Richela Fabian Morgan, Kim Tamalonis, and Priya Tambe.

BYOB and join us for an evening of self expression through paint! No paint-by-numbers, no pressure to be perfect – workshop will start with a simple still-life and progress from there. Participants will be encouraged to work at their own pace, and in their own style. No experience necessary; if you’ve never picked up a paintbrush, make this the first time! All supplies included. (remember, BYOB!)

Friday & Saturday, January 24 & 25, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

In this two-day workshop, students will learn to create an “alla prima” oil floral painting from life while studying the beauty of flowers with sensitivity and detail. Using a step-by-step approach, participants will paint either a study of individual flowers or a small bouquet using a direct painting method. Pat will guide each student with in-depth personal critiques through each stage of the process – from creating a strong design with careful drawing, to color mixing, modeling form and finishing details.Flowers and small vases will be supplied for each student (please feel free to bring your own if you want). Pelham Art Center will hold an Opening Reception Friday, January 24th, 6:00-8:00PM that is free and open to the public.
Attendees can interact with the exhibition by sharing their own written reflections and mementos in the Pelham Art Center Legacy Book.
Pelham Art Center presents “Pelham Art Center: 50 Years” (January 24-April 4, 2020), a historical gallery exhibition covering the fifty-year legacy of the organization as a grassroots non-profit and local arts institution. The exhibition is organized as a visual timeline encompassing the origins of the Art Center, its major milestones, and art highlights from gallery shows over the years.

In this workshop paper artist, Tifa Chii, will share her passion for paper as an artistic medium and her knowledge of paper sculpting techniques. She has done work for Amazon, Chobani, and Dreamworks, and has exhibited in several galleries. Join her for a three hour session in making a framed paper pelican friend! You will learn the in’s and out’s of paper as a medium and the method’s used to create your own 2.5-Dimensional artwork! All supplies included.

This exhibit is the result of a joint educational and artistic endeavor between The Ground Glass Photography Group, The Rye Arts Center, and selected students from Rye High School’s AP Photography class. The Ground Glass Mentorship Program provides an opportunity for students to attend Ground Glass’s monthly meetings and lectures with fine art photographers. Ground Glass members offer review sessions of student work in a forum centered on constructive comments and advice. This exhibition is the culmination of the mentorship program.
