Last week, I took my 11 year old to Friday Night Skate at Hommocks Park Ice Rink.
I bought a 12 session card and, I thought, ice skate rental for the same number of sessions. I showed the cashier my driver’s license (with my Mamaroneck address)and gave her my debit card. She gave my son a receipt to show that we paid for the ice skate rental.
As you know, Friday Nght Skate is super busy, so I just signed my receipt and left. I was just looking at bank statement and saw that I was charged $74. I went to the Hommocks Ice website to check on prices. I am now understanding that I need a resident ID card (but I had no clue about this while at the rink for the first time), so I would have only been charged $55 and I wanted to pay for the skate rental to get the package.
I don’t understand why the cashier didn’t mention the resident ID card when I purposefully showed her my driver’s license with my Mamaroneck address.
So I emailed the Mamaroneck Town Dept. of Recreation. I received the following reply from the Rec Dept:
Unfortunately, Rye Neck is not considered a resident. It is a different school district.
So, I went back and looked over the forms and there is NOTHING mentioning school districts.
Thank you for your time,
editor: We welcome clarification from the Town.
